The Little Teddy Meets a Rock Star

The little teddy was hanging out in Zombie Jem in his cemetery. With her was her brothers Owl and Fox. It was getting late and they had all been hanging out most of the day. And though it was getting late, none of them were ready to call it a night. “I think we should go out somewhere tonight,” Jem told his friends. The little teddy began bouncing excitedly. “Oh!” she replied, excitedly, “Yike where?” Zombie Jem shrugged. “I’m not sure,” he answered, “but I definitely wanna do something tonight.” The four friends began walking towards the cemetery’s exit.

The moment they closed the cemetery gate behind them, they heard a voice seemingly coming from the cemetery itself. “I think I can help you out,” the voice said. They all looked back into the cemetery, but saw nobody. Then, they saw someone walking up the side of the cemetery. They walked around to meet whoever it was that felt they needed help. The little teddy was surprised to see that she actually knew who it was.

“Teddy Tedawoo?” she asked as they met up with the bear. “That’s Teddy Tedaloo, thank you,” the bear replied, “and I think I have something fun for you all to do tonight!” Everyone’s eyes lit up. “Ooh!” the little teddy exclaimed, “yike what?” Teddy Tedaloo smiled. “Well, there’s a small concert being held in the forest,” he explained, “and I happen to have the last five tickets.” Zombie Jem eyed the bear suspiciously. “Now when you say small,” he started, “how small are we talking?” The bear shrugged. “It’s a private show,” he answered, “for five guests.”

Zombie Jem was a little uncertain of Teddy Tedaloo’s offer. “I don’t know,” he said, “it’s a little weird that you happen to have five tickets to a private show for five guests.” The little teddy grabbed Jem’s hand and began bouncing excitedly. “Oh pwease,” she asked, “can we go?” Jem saw that Fox and Owl were bouncing excitedly with their sister. He rolled his eyes and smiled. “Oh, ok,” he sighed, “it would be pretty cool to see a concert.” Teddy Tedaloo clapped his paws. “Well,” he began, “that’s settled! Now, if you’ll please follow me, we can make our way to the concert.” The group began following the bear into the forest.

The walk to the concert site was a very pleasant one. Teddy Tedaloo told them a little bit about the artist they were going to see. His name was Mickey and he had a band called Mickey and the Kilbears. They were an indie rock band that had only been performing for a short while. “But they’re very good,” he assured everyone, “I think you’re in for a real treat.” The little teddy was getting more and more excited as they walked. “I can’t wait!” she said happily. “Oh yeah,” Owl agreed, “this is going to be so fun!” In no time they had arrived to their destination.

A large stage was set up in a large clearing in the forest. Speakers lined the sides of the stage, and in the middle of the stage was the band setup. The little teddy could tell the band was a five piece, with three guitarists, a keyboardist, and a drummer. “Well the band uses some good equipment,” he explained to everyone, “so that’s a good sign.” Teddy Tedaloo motioned to a row of five seats in front of the stage. “Everyone, please be seated,” he instructed, “the show is about to begin.” Excited, everyone sat down. Many colored lights flooded the stage. They show was about to start, and the little teddy was getting more and more excited.

A small bear walked up on stage, followed by four more who each took their place at their respective instruments. The first bear went up to a microphone in the front center of the stage. “Thank you all for coming tonight,” he said, a little nervously, “I’m Mickey and we are Mickey and the Kilbears!” The little teddy began clapping. Everyone else joined in shortly after. Upon hearing the applause, Mickey smiled brightly. “We hope you enjoy the show!” he said excitedly before going to get his own guitar.

The moment they began playing, the little teddy knew that this was probably the greatest band ever. She was enthralled by the way the band played and by the way Mickey sang. She looked over to everyone and saw that they were all having a good time to. Owl and Fox were both dancing with the music. Zombie Jem leaned in close to the little teddy. “Are you having fun, PammyBear,” he asked her. The little teddy nodded happily. “Oh yes,” she answered, “this is so fun! I wove this band!” Jem nodded and the two focused their attention back to the band.

The show lasted about an hour and a half. As soon as they finished their last song, Mickey walked back up to the front and center mic. “Thank you all so much again for coming to the show tonight,” he began, with much more confidence than when he’d first spoken, “Did you all enjoy yourselves?” Everyone stood up, clapping and cheering. Mickey beamed. “I’m so glad you had fun everyone!” he said happily, “Now, my band mates aren’t really ones for socializing, but I’ll be hanging around for a while. But please, would you please give it up for my band mates before they leave?” Everyone stood up again and applauded Mickey’s band mates as they stood up and headed off stage.

A few minutes later, Mickey came from backstage to meet everyone. He smiled as he walked up. “I’m sorry for the wait,” he told them apologetically, “I had to catch up with the rest of the band. I keep trying to get them to be more social but, so far, I’ve had no luck with that.” Teddy Tedaloo shook his head. “Oh, it’s no problem at all,” he told Mickey, “We understand completely. Right everyone?” Everyone nodded agreement. Zombie Jem approached Mickey and extended his hand. Mickey took it with a smile. “Man, that was some good music,” Jem told him, “I used to be a musician myself when I was alive.” Mickey nodded. “That’s really cool,” he replied, “We’re still pretty new, but we’ve gotten some really positive feedback so far.”

Zombie Jem and Mickey talked for a while about their music. The little teddy waited anxiously with her brothers. They were discussing the show when Mickey and Jem came over to them. “Sorry for taking so long,” Mickey said, “I get distracted easily when discussing music.” Zombie Jem nodded. “I’m sorry, everyone,” he added, “I didn’t mean to keep him for so long. I don’t often get to reminisce about my music days.” The little teddy laughed. “Oh, tha’s ok,” she told her friend, “We’ve been having fun talking about the concert. It was jus so fun!” Owl and Fox both nodded. “We both had a wot of fun!” Fox told Mickey happily. “Oh yes,” Owl agreed, “Your band is vewy good!” Mickey smiled brightly. “Thank you so much!” he told them, “I really appreciate it!”

The little teddy spent the next few minutes getting to know Mickey. She really liked Mickey. He told her that he was a pretty shy bear, but playing in a band was helping him become a little less so. “Well, I would never guess you were a shy bear,” the little teddy told him, “You seem pwetty confident.” Mickey giggled. “Well, I’m really working on it,” he told her. The little teddy smiled. “Well, you’re doing a weawwy good job!” she assured him. “I don’t mean to interrupt,” Jem said suddenly, “but how would you feel about coming back to my place to hang out for a little bit? If you have the time, that is.” The teddy began bouncing excitedly. “Oh yes,” she exclaimed, “that would be so fun!” Mickey’s eyes lit up. “Oh! That would be great,” he answered, “I can’t believe how nice you all are!”

Soon, Mickey was walking back with everyone to Zombie Jem’s cemetery. He was so happy to have made so many friends at his show. When they reached the cemetery he couldn’t help but be impressed. “Wow,” he told Zombie Jem, “this place is huge!” Jem smiled proundly. “Oh yes,” he replied, “I quite like it!” Teddy Tedaloo clapped his paws together. “Well,” he told everyone, “this is where I take my leave. Got a paper to write!” He smiled and headed off. “Bye Teddy Tedawoo,” the little teddy called to him as he walked away, “See you water!” The bear turned around quickly. “That’s Teddy TedaLOO,” he called back, “and yes, you certainly shall see me later!” He continued off back to his newstand.

The little teddy spent the rest of the night hanging out with Mickey and Zombie Jem in the cemetery. Fox and Owl had decided to head home a little after Teddy Tedaloo had left. Teddy and Jem both found that they really enjoyed Mickey’s company. And to their delight, he felt the same. “I do hope you’ll come by often!” Jem told Mickey happily. Mickey nodded. “I definitely will,” he answered, “you’re all very nice and I’m glad to have met you all.” The little teddy gave her new friend a big hug. She was glad to have met such a nice bear. The new friends spent a while talking before the little teddy decided to head home. On her way, she thought about the fun everyone would have adventuring with their new friend. Her rock ‘n’ roll bear.
