Little Teddy and the New Farmer

The little teddy was playing outside. She was gathering sticks to make her very own castle. She had just about gathered all of the sticks from her front yard and decided to to take a walk down to the forest to get some more. But as she began to make her way down the road to the forest she saw someone walking up towards her.

At first, she was sure she knew who it was walking towards her. It looked just like Little Dee. Only he was wearing a pair of overalls. The little teddy was pretty sure that her cave bear friends didn’t wear clothes. So she decided that this couldn’t be her friend Little Dee. And the idea of making a new friend made her absolutely giddy!

Smiling, the little teddy bounced over to the bear. “Hewwo!” she exclaimed as she reached him. The bear smiled. “Hewwo!” he replied happily, reaching out his paw for the little teddy to shake, “I does be Small Dee!” The little teddy shook his paw. “It’s vewy nice to meet you,” she told Small Dee, “and I yike your overalls!” Small Dee pulled on his overall straps. “Thank you vewy much,” he smiled proudly, “I does maked them myself!” Upon noticing that the little teddy was carrying sticks, Small Dee inquired as to why. “OH!” she told him happily, “I’m gonna make a castle out of sticks!!”

Small Dee began to help the little teddy collect sticks for her castle. “I does think making a castle sounds wike wots of fun,” he told her, “But unfortunatewy I can’t help you make yours. I can onwy help you get your sticks. I have to make my way to my new farm!” The little teddys ears perked up. “OH! You’re a farmer?” she asked excitedly, “Do you gwow potatoes? I wove potatoes!!” Small Dee giggled. “I doesn’t gwow anyfing jus yet! I jus started being a farmer,” he explained.

The little teddy and Small Dee continued to make small talk as they continued to collect sticks. The little teddy was happy to find out that Small Dee was in fact related to her cave bear friends, Dee and Little Dee. Small Dee was their cousin. And though he too grew up as a cave bear, he had always wanted to be a farmer. To grow his own food; to share that food with all of his family and friends. And now he was finally getting his chance. He was going to be the best farmer ever!

Once the two had gathered enough sticks, they began to walk back to the little teddy’s home. “Thank you vewy much for helping me gather the sticks for my castle!!” she happily told her new friend. Small Dee smiled. “You does be welcome,” he replied with a smile, “And thank you for taking the time to talk to me! I does fink we’re gonna be gweat fwiends!!”

It wasn’t too long before the two reached the little teddy’s home. They set down all of the sticks down with the rest of the sticks the little teddy had gathered already. Small Dee gave his new a friend a hug. “I does hope you’ll come visit my farm when I get it all set up!” he told her. The little teddy bounced excitedly. “Oh yes!!” she exclaimed, clapping her paws together, “I jus can’t wait!!!”

After one last hug, Small Dee began to make his way down the road towards his new farm. He hadn’t gotten too far when he heard the little teddy call out from behind him, “OH!!” Small Dee turned to find the little teddy bouncing happily towards him. “I jus wemembered something,” she told him as soon as she reached him, “If you want to become the gweates farmer ever, you should pwobabwy make a pit stop on the way to your farm!”

In just a little while, Small Dee found himself walking up to a large farmhouse. Sitting on the porch of the house were three bears. They all waved to Small Dee as he walked up to the porch, with one of them walking down to meet him. The bear extended his paw, which Small Dee was happy to shake. “Hello there, friend,” the bear greeted Small Dee with a smile, “The name’s Sonning. It’s a pleasure to meet you!” Small Dee smiled. “I does be Small Dee,” he happily answered, “I’m gonna be the bes farmer ever! But I doesn’t know much about farming. But I have it on good word that you and your bwothers can teach I all I does need to know!” Sonning laughed heartily. “I’m sure we can do our best,” he assured Small Dee, “Come! We’ll show you around!”

The new farmer followed Sonning up to meet his brothers. He had a good feeling that he was going to learn a lot from them! He would have to make sure to go back and thank the little teddy once he got his own farm established. Now, he thought to himself, what vegetable did she say she really loved. Oh yes! It was potatoes. He would have to make sure he asked how to grow potatoes. Then he could bring some back to his new friend.

  1. Such a cute story! Workin’ on a ranch sounds cool. Here’s hoping Small Dee has a great time and brings The Teddy plenty of her favorite potatoes.
